Frequently asked
Questions (Facts, Questions and
Answers)
In your posts, you mention fabrics as 100% Cotton or 100% Cotton Poplin. What is the difference between these fabrics?
Traditionally, Cottons are produced using the basic plain weave, which is a simple criss cross pattern, where the weft thread goes over one warp thread and under the next warp thread. (The warp is the lengthwise thread and the weft is the thread that runs horizontally on the loom).
A poplin is usually made from finer thread/yarn and there is usually more yarn/thread in the warp of a poplin. Poplin is a thinner , cooler fabric with an easy drape making it a solid all round fabric.
Are your Fabrics washable?
I do not provide washing or drying instructions in respect of goods supplied. Although manufacturers state their fabrics are hand or machine washable, you are responsible for ensuring that washing and/or drying of the goods is undertaken at appropriate temperatures. Stanzy and Ivy fabrics accepts no responsibility for any damage caused by washing and/or drying. We strongly recommend that you test on a sample of fabric first before you start any project.
Does Cotton shrink?
Yes. Many materials, particularly natural ones like Cotton are prone to shrinking especially when subjected to extremes of temperature and the agitation of washers and dryers. You should always wash fabrics (following manufacturers instructions) first or allow for shrinkage especially when making clothing.

a licensed fabric is for individual use only and not for commercial use.
